SMS Messaging Program

AR Badger is an accounts receivable management platform that businesses use to send SMS text messages to their customers. This page describes our SMS messaging program, how consent is obtained, and your rights as a message recipient.

What Messages Will I Receive?

If you receive SMS text messages through the AR Badger platform, they are sent by a business with which you have an existing business relationship. Messages may include:

  • Invoice due date reminders
  • Invoice status updates
  • Account notifications

How Is Consent Obtained?

Express SMS consent is required before any messages are sent. Consent is obtained through one of the following methods:

Method 1: Direct Opt-In (Self-Service)

End users can opt in directly through our SMS Opt-In page. On this page, the user provides their mobile phone number and checks an explicit consent checkbox. The consent checkbox is not pre-selected and requires affirmative action. The disclosure presented at the point of consent states:

"By providing your mobile phone number, you consent to receive SMS invoice reminders and account notifications from businesses that use AR Badger. Message frequency varies, up to 15 messages/month. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to unsubscribe at any time. Reply HELP for assistance. Consent is not required as a condition of purchase."

Businesses may share their opt-in link with customers via email, invoices, or their own website. Once a customer opts in, their consent is recorded and automatically applied to any business on the AR Badger platform that has their phone number on file.

Method 2: Business Attestation

Businesses that have already obtained express SMS consent from their customers through their own processes (e.g., customer onboarding forms, signed service agreements, or account registration) can attest to this consent within the AR Badger platform. When enabling SMS for a customer, the business is required to check a confirmation box stating:

"I confirm this customer has provided express consent to receive SMS invoice reminders and account notifications from my business."

The business is responsible for obtaining and maintaining proper consent records. AR Badger tracks who attested to consent and when, maintaining a full audit trail.

How Consent Is Managed in Our Platform

AR Badger provides businesses with built-in tools to manage and document SMS consent for their customers. Before any SMS messages are sent, businesses must explicitly confirm that each customer has provided consent. Below are screenshots of the consent management features within the AR Badger platform:

1. SMS Consent Confirmation

When a business enables SMS reminders for a customer, they are required to confirm that the customer has consented to receive text messages. The business must acknowledge their responsibility for obtaining and maintaining proper consent records.

2. Per-Customer Consent Tracking

Each customer's SMS consent status is tracked individually. Businesses can view and manage consent status directly from the customer detail view. Consent can be granted or revoked at any time.

3. SMS Consent Management Dashboard

Businesses have a dedicated SMS settings page to manage consent for all customers. This includes the ability to grant or revoke consent individually or in bulk, filter customers by consent status, and view overall consent statistics.

SMS messages are only sent to customers who have a phone number on file and whose consent status is marked as "Granted." Customers who reply STOP to any message are automatically opted out and their consent status is updated to "Denied" in the system.

Message Frequency

Message frequency varies based on your account activity. You may receive up to 15 messages per month. The actual number of messages depends on your account status.

Message and Data Rates

Message and data rates may apply. Contact your wireless carrier for details about your text messaging plan and any applicable charges.
